So a big part of my life is spent traveling in which I absolutely LOVE!! The airport is one of the most fascinating things to me. Not only has traveling allowed me to see this but actually working at the industry has opened my eyes to a whole other world. I say all this to bring you into a little story that I was apart of that really made me think. If you have read any of my previous blogs or really know me, you will easily find that I allow God to speak to me in the simplest ways. I’m a strong believer that God is not complicated. His love is simple but powerful! So many times we try to complicate Him and yet He wants to speak to us in the most simple ways.
I was at the airport, headed to a conference with my parents. We stopped to pick up some coffee, a snack, and magazines. With all my luggage, we stepped aside for a small break and as I began to put my stuff down I went for the easiest thing near me. I began to pile my stuff on top of this thing and grabbed my coffee and snack and began to enjoy. Not realizing where I had just placed my stuff on and what I was leaning against, all of a sudden I hear these words from my dad “Vanessa, get away from the trash”. It didn’t really dawn on me and I asked “why?”. His response… “because it’s dirty”… “Oh! Duh Vanessa!”, I said to myself. And in this moment, I caught myself thinking about God! I know, I know, it’s not very much of a “God moment” but to me it was! You see, I have seen so many girls loose themselves in the world they live in and they don’t realize what they are doing and becoming. It’s so easy to become unaware of what we are allowing into our lives and the doors that we are slowly opening to the enemy. It starts off with the little things. Making excuses for those little things and before you know, you find yourself in the trash can that you were trying to avoid. It can start with a curiosity of wanting to know what it feels like, (whatever “it” may be for you) and before you know it, you’ve gone too far. Usually by this time, you don’t even know that you’ve gone too far and when someone tries to approach you about it, you get offended and think they are the ones with the problem. This generation is a generation of QUESTIONS. We all want to know why?! “Because I said so” is no longer a sufficient answer. There needs to be a explanation, evidence and just cause. We’ve lost this sense of trusting in God. We’ve lost this idea of obeying Him because we love Him. Obeying Him because we know that His ways are so much better than ours. We want to live our lives the way we want and everyone be okay with it and act like nothing is wrong. I’m tired of living in a world where sin is tolerated because we are afraid to hurt people’s feelings. The word of God is truth and unfortunately, no one likes the truth, BUT the truth will set you FREE! In these last days we do not need luke warm young ladies, we need young ladies who will not be afraid to live a life sold out to Christ, even if it means we are not like this world and we do not act like this world. We need christian young ladies who will stand firm in what they believe and not let the things of this world influence our life. It is not the time to be passive but it’s time that we stand up and reach out to the millions of women who are out there in need of some genuine love that this world can not offer. BUT… if we keep hiding in our trash cans, hanging around with trash and becoming trash, we are of no use. I know it sounds harsh but it’s something that God has placed so heavily in my heart and it saddens me to see apostolic young women turning their backs to the calling that God has for them. Sometimes God will speak simply to you… “get away from that trash! Because it’s dirty!” We were bought with a price, it’s time to LIVE like we believe it!
